Ignite Student Ministries
The vision of IgniteSMS began in January of 2010. IgniteSMS wants to be more than a youth group that gets together to play games, have fun, and hang out. We enjoy that stuff and do a lot of it, but as we look around our church, our community, and our world we feel there is a need (a call) for us to do more. IgniteSMS is a group of young people actively ministering in our church and in our community. The needs are great and we’re rising to meet them. We want to “Ignite” our own lives and the lives of our families and friends to become bright, burning, infernos for Jesus Christ to the world – this is our mission and our purpose. We are expecting great things and are eagerly anticipating God's fulfilled will in our lives.
Current Student Ministries:
- FUEL (Filling Up Everyday Life):
Student led youth service with primary focus on reaching our friends. - Bread of Life & Soup for the Soul mission Partner:
BoL&SftS is a mission to the homeless and needy in Monroe and surrounding counties. Ignite gives a monthly financial gift, donates cans of shaving cream & razors for hygiene packs, and goes out onsite to distribute goods. - AfterReach:
A ministry that reaches after visiting students. It’s a follow up to visitors to try to get them to come back and get involved.
Tim and Cindy Ward
We have been married for going on 18 wonderful years. We have 2 great children (hardly children anymore though): Connor (14) the guitarist and Chloe (12) the pianist. They are 2 of the greatest kids you’d ever meet. Besides the kids we have quite the collection of animals. There are the 2 dogs (mini docs) Reece and MocoTico; the 2 cats Shadow and Calico; and the 2 horses Billy UB Bad (15y Thoroughbred) and Lola (1y quarter). Our favorite past time is working around the house maintaining and fixing-up things up. It’s a lot of work keeping the place looking good. It’s a lot like our spiritual temples. We’ve got to give it some attention or it will it become weathered and ruined. Besides spending time around home we like to spend time with friends.
Tim works at Boston Scientific in Spencer Indiana as an Engineering Project Manager. He’s developed and commercialized several medical devices that are used in the field of urology to improve the quality of life for those who suffer from kidney stone disease. He’s received 20 United States patents for medical device inventions. He is not too bad at what he does and he feels blessed.
Cindy works (harder than Tim) around the home and everywhere that Connor and Chloe take her. She finds time to babysit for friends a couple of times a week. Cindy’s a florist by trade and works at a local flower shop on holiday’s to help out. She’s quite the social butterfly, loves building relationships, and likes to be a match maker. She’s pretty good (better than Tim) at what she does and feels blessed too.
Favorite foods:
Tim: Chicken, Mexican, and Peanut Butter
Cindy: Potatoes
Favorite Bible verses:
Tim’s
James 4:14 - “For what is your life?
But a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away”
This verse helps me keep it all in perspective. I enjoy life; however, life on earth is short. The average man’s life is around 70 years with no guarantee. We should live life like we’re dying – because we are. The odds are everyone dies; 10/10 people do. Eternal life through Jesus Christ is the greatest gift. I’m given abundant life on earth during this “vapor” and eternal life in heaven – what a deal!
